Language and interpreting services

The Royal Marsden has an arrangement with The Big Word to provide a telephone interpreting service using suitably skilled interpreters to provide information in the preferred language of the patient.

A hands-free telephone is available to patients and their relatives or friends for use in an area where privacy and confidentiality can be maintained. Where appropriate, face-to-face interpretation can also be provided.

The Royal Marsden is working towards developing information resources in other languages to meet the needs of the patient population whose first language is not English. Information directed towards ethnic minority groups will be culturally sensitive.

Assistance with sign language and information in Braille can be provided if required.
