In-house learning and training

We run a range of in-house activities designed to allow staff to learn at a pace which suits both them and the organisation.

Regular courses and seminars – covering a wide variety of subjects – are provided free for all staff in modern and well-equipped facilities at our hospitals in Chelsea and Sutton.

Our online learning hub allows staff to complete learning-at-work modules at a time that suits them.

The Royal Marsden School

Our staff have access to The Royal Marsden School, one of the UK’s leading specialist cancer schools. The School delivers a flexible programme of degree and master’s qualifications as well as short courses and study days – all taught by experts in their field.

Developing leaders

Staff looking to develop their management skills can take advantage of our in-house courses, our paired learning scheme, and access the NHS Leadership Academy.

Many of our staff are also sponsored to attend university- and college-level programmes that may lead to formal qualifications such as degrees, diplomas, certificates and national vocational qualifications.

Developing and maintaining national and international links

The Royal Marsden is at the forefront of global developments in cancer research and treatment. We support this international network by sponsoring staff to attend and speak at UK and overseas conferences.

Apprenticeships

Work-based apprenticeships allow our staff to develop and enhance their skills and knowledge, perform better in their role, improve their career prospects and earn a nationally recognised qualification.

Staff on apprenticeships can also benefit from 30% off weekly travel cards and season tickets.
