Next steps in the recruitment process

Any subsequent communications about your job application will be sent to you by email. Applicants are advised to check their email accounts regularly.

Selection

As we often have many applicants for jobs at The Royal Marsden, we regret that we will only be able to contact those applicants who are short-listed for interview. Therefore, if you have not heard from us within two weeks of the closing date, please assume you have not been short-listed for interview on this particular occasion.

If you are successful at the short-listing stage, you will be invited for interview by email with information about what the selection tests will be. You will be asked to book a time for your interview by contacting the Recruitment Bureau. Your email invitation will also ask whether you require any special arrangements to attend the interview or selection test. Please bring ID and qualification documents (originals and copies) with you to the interview.

Any convictions you have declared in your application form will be discussed at interview due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exemptions) Order 1975.

We endeavour to provide feedback to all candidates who attend an interview, whether successful or unsuccessful.

Pre-employment checks

All offers of employment are conditional upon pre-employment checks. You will be told what the checks are in your conditional offer letter which is sent to you by email. The conditional offer letter will also outline what the next steps are for you in helping us obtain your pre-employment checks as quickly and efficiently as possible. If any of the checks cannot be obtained within four weeks, the Trust reserves the right to withdraw any conditional offer of employment.

Once all pre-employment checks have been completed you and the recruiting manager will be contacted by email to confirm this. Only at this stage can a start date be agreed. We advise all our candidates not to hand in their notice to their previous employer before this time as the offer of employment is still conditional up to this point.

Start date and induction

Once a start date has been agreed with the recruiting manager you will be issued your terms and conditions of employment (contract). We will ask you to return a signed copy of your contract to the Recruitment Bureau.

In the contract, which will be emailed and posted to you, you will receive information about mandatory Trust induction and any other mandatory appointments made for you which you are required to attend. In addition, you will be undertaking mandatory local induction with the recruiting manager during the first months in post.

The Recruitment Bureau will endeavour to keep in contact with you as often as possible, however if you have any questions throughout the recruitment process please do not hesitate to contact your designated Recruitment Coordinator on the number provided.
