For this procedure you require:

  • Catheter for catheterisation depending upon the size of the stoma; usually 14Ch
  • Gauze

  • Someone who has been taught to perform this procedure
  • Sterile water or boiled, cooled tap water
  • 50ml bladder syringe
  • Gauze
  • Alcohol-based hand rub
    • Optional equipment:
    • Blunt disposable clamps
