Royal Marsden wins ‘Best UK Employer of the year’ award

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded the ‘Best UK employer of the year’ award at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit Awards 2018.

05 October 2018

The awards, on Thursday 4 October, covered 11 categories recognising organisations going above and beyond to recruit and retain their nursing workforce.

Following a rigorous judging process, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust emerged as the winner of the evening’s final award, ‘Best UK employer of the year’ for our strategy ‘Aspiring to excellence’.

The award submission and presentation centred on how our recruitment and retention strategy, including staff engagement workshops and a holistic health and wellbeing campaign, reduced our nurse vacancy rate.

The judges commented on how our presentation addressed equality and diversity and that we have a “genuine commitment to support staff across the organisation”.

Chief Nurse Eamonn Sullivan said: “This award is a wonderful acknowledgment of how incredibly hard-working our staff are and how passionate they are about delivering the best possible care.”

Director of Workforce, Nina Singh, said: “The best way to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality of care is to ensure our staff feel valued, listened to and recognised. This award is about more than us as an employer- it reflects our staff culture, and the positive impact this has on our patients.”
