The Royal Marsden is recognised nationally and internationally as a leader in providing high standards of care for our patients.

Nursing care

A high standard of nursing care is essential for our patients to recuperate as quickly as possible and for you to feel safe and reassured. Our patients consistently report that they value the level of care they receive at The Royal Marsden. Through our Patient Experience survey, 97% of our patients rate our quality of care as ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’ and 99% of patients would recommend The Royal Marsden to a friend or family needing care.

Safety standards

Our Private Care services must meet the same high standards of safety and reporting as our NHS services in areas such as infection control, falls prevention, emergency readmission and holistic needs assessments.

We report on all of these measures, and many more, and monitor and publish these results in our Annual Report each year. For example, in 2014/15, Private Care recoded zero cases of MRSA infection and the number of Royal Marsden patients readmitted within 28 days has stayed below 1% since April 2012.

Our private patients benefit from a bespoke menu that has been designed and approved by our team of nutritionists. The menu offers a range of choices and we are able to cater for all dietary needs. Meals are cooked  on site by our dedicated catering team and our Ward Hosts are on hand to take your order and ensure service runs smoothly.

Guest services

The Royal Marsden's Front of House team are available to make your visit to The Royal Marsden run more smoothly. They speak to each patient regularly and check each room before a patient is admitted to ensure you have everything you need.

Our team is able to support you with catering, in-room facilities, the patient entertainment system and anything else to make your stay more comfortable.

In addition to patient services, our Guest Services Officers are able to provide services and assistance for relatives or visitors, such as catering, accommodation, information and support.

All staff were professional and supportive. They engaged in friendly conversation and made me feel welcome.
