Nursing in Outpatients
Our nursing philosophy is to provide a friendly but efficient service, minimising the wait for consultation, treatment or investigations.
We adopt a multidisciplinary approach to provide patients and others with the information they require to understand all aspects of their cancer treatment.
The nursing team includes two sisters, experienced senior staff nurses, staff nurses and healthcare assistants. We also work closely with the clinic clerks to ensure the smooth running of the clinics.
We are an enthusiastic and motivated team and we strive to provide a quality service for all patients.
Your medical team
Our medical teams work together to provide your care. Each team has a consultant or a team of consultants leading them but they work together. Throughout your care it is common to see different doctors and you may meet different consultants depending on your needs. You can ask to see a specific doctor, and where possible we will try to arrange this for you.
Your key worker
A key worker is a person who, with your consent and agreement, takes a key role in co-ordinating your care and promoting continuity, ensuring you have access to information and advice in relation to a cancer diagnosis. If you haven’t been provided with the name of your key worker please speak to one of the nurses at your clinic appointment. Your key worker will typically be either a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) or a research nurse.
