Bud Flanagan Ambulatory Outpatient Unit
The Bud Flanagan Ambulatory Outpatient Unit, next to Bud Flanagan East Ward, is a dedicated outpatient and day care facility for haemato-oncology patients.
The ward has 15 treatment chairs, three isolation cubicles, and a negative pressure room for the delivery of pentamidine. The day care area provides treatments such as blood product support, chemotherapy and symptom control.
Location, directions and parking
Bud Flanagan Ambulatory Outpatient Unit is located in the East Wing of the hospital and has its own lift and stairs to the reception on the second floor. There is no access to the outpatient department from either of the Bud Flanagan wards.
We’ve worked with DisabledGo to create accessibility information for the Bud Flanagan Ambulatory Outpatient Unit.
Opening times and visitors
Bud Flanagan Ambulatory Outpatient Unit is open 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Because of the space on the unit, we ask patients to restrict themselves to only one visitor at a time. We also ask that babies and children under 12 years old do not attend. If you have any concerns with this please discuss them with the nurse looking after you, the sister or the matron.
Food and drink
Patients in the Ambulatory Outpatient Unit will receive meals and refreshments.

Bud Flanagan staff
Consultant clinics run alongside our day care unit, so some patients will be there to just see a doctor and some patients will be for day care only. If you are receiving treatment you will be given a specific time for it so that you do not have to sit in the waiting room not knowing when you are going to be seen.
If you are seeing the doctor as well as having day care, you might be asked to come back to the department later in the day for your treatment. Some patients prefer to leave the hospital for this time.
We try to ensure that all day care finishes by 6pm, but if you are having a transfusion a nominated nurse will stay on to make sure you are okay.
The matron for Bud Flanagan Ambulatory Outpatient Unit is Kim Davis and the sisters are Alyson Foyle and Louisa Jones.
