Mary is a qualified nurse who has worked at the Royal Marsden Hospital since 1981 the majority of which has been in the field of cancer related lymphoedema. She is the clinical expert for lymphoedema within the Trust leading a team of therapists in Chelsea and Sutton and also has an educational role within the Royal Marsden School.
Within the specialist area of lymphoedema, Mary has an acknowledged national and international reputation in which she has published and presented widely. She has a role as an external expert on the development of European quality standards for breast cancer services and contributes to national working groups to improve the care of patients with lymphoedema.
Mary’s research interests have been focused on the psychological effects of breast cancer related lymphoedema and she is particularly interested in risk reducing strategies for lymphoedema and long term control of swelling.
