Nursing in the Private Patient Medical Day Unit
All nurses are experienced in administering chemotherapy and other supportive treatments, as well as venapuncture and cannulation. This allows them to provide holistic and individualised care to all patients. This, along with broad experience in the field of oncology, promotes evidence-based care to a diverse patient population.
The Unit offers a challenging and varied experience in cancer nursing and provides the opportunity to rotate from the Day Unit to the Outpatient Department, allowing continuity of care for patients throughout diagnosis and treatment.
The Unit promotes nurse-led care which is well supported by our consultants and medical staff. All nurses are encouraged and supported to attend educational programmes to enhance their practical skills. The nursing team offers a friendly and relaxed environment in which to gain skills and fully develop as a cancer nurse.
