Horder Ward is an oncology ward which specialises in the care of patients with complex symptom control needs. There are eight beds on the ward, two two-bed rooms with a shared bathroom and four single rooms with private facilities
Horder Ward was redeveloped to include a large conservatory room for use by patients and visiting families. The ward also has a separate room to meet with families, and a therapy room.
Location, directions and parking
Horder Ward is located on the fifth floor of the Granard House wing at The Royal Marsden’s Chelsea hospital. The easiest way to locate us is from the entrance on Dovehouse Street.
We’ve worked with AccessAble to create accessibility information for Horder Ward.
Visitors are welcome between 11am to 9pm apart from lunchtime from 12.30pm to 2pm. We can accommodate visits outside these times at the discretion of the ward co-ordinator, and open visiting is available for extremely poorly patients. We ask for no more than two visitors per bed at any one time.
Facilities on Horder Ward
There are entertainment units on each bed for your personal use. These have a telephone with its own direct number, television, radio and internet, all free of charge for you to use.
Horder Ward staff
There is always cover from doctors 24 hours a day if needed. From Monday to Friday your medical/surgical team will see you every day during their ward rounds and again if and when needed. You will be given a named nurse at the start of every shift, which run from 8am to 8.30pm and 8pm to 8.30am.
On Horder Ward we always have a nurse in charge, usually the ward sister or a senior nurse from the team. There are three nurses and a healthcare assistant on each day shift and two nurses and a healthcare assistant on the night shift.
The matron of Horder Ward is Lara Roskelly and the ward sister is Gemma Kane.
