Watch the video: How to do a breast examination

Jenny Rusby, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at The Royal Marsden, demonstrates how to do a breast examination

23 August 2018

Around 1 in 10 women who attend The Royal Marsden diagnosis and assessment clinics, held daily at Sutton and three times a week at Chelsea, are found to have cancer; 9 out of 10 women receive positive news of no cancer being found. However, Jenny Rusby, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at The Royal Marsden, stresses that if a woman finds a lump it needs to be checked. If a woman does receive a breast cancer diagnosis, the earlier the lump is found and assessed, the better the chances of successful treatment and ultimately survival.

Watch Jenny on the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme demonstrate how to do a breast examination.
