Radiotherapy referrals

The Royal Marsden accepts referrals from both GPs and other hospitals for radiotherapy services for patients with a confirmed cancer diagnosis.

If your patient is being treated within the London Cancer Alliance

If your patient is already under the care of another provider in the London Cancer Alliance, The Royal Marsden will very likely be part of their treatment pathway if radiotherapy is deemed appropriate.

If your patient hasn't been offered radiotherapy as part of their treatment or if your patient would like to have radiotherapy at The Royal Marsden, the consultant in charge of the patient's case will need to complete a referral letter and email it to rmh-tr.referrals@nhs.net.

Please note that in most cases, before an appointment is scheduled a clinician will review the patient's case notes. Some patients may be scheduled for our Clinical Assessment Services, where a clinic appointment is not booked directly. Instead the patient is asked to telephone us after we have reviewed the referral and established the most appropriate clinic. However, please be assured that all referrals are dealt with quickly and a timely appointment will be made.

If your patient is being treated outside the London Cancer Alliance

If your patient is being cared for by a provider outside the London Cancer Alliance, the patient will need a referral from their GP for a second opinion. All GP referrals should be made using NHS e-Referrals.

If you are unable to refer using NHS e-Referrals, please contact us on 0800 731 2325 and we will assist you.
