GP Education Series

As a GP you play a vital part in your patient's cancer care pathway, so you need to know what symptoms to look out for and when to refer your patient for tests.

GP training at The Royal Marsden

In 2009, we launched the GP Education Series, a programme of events and online learning opportunities which aim to support GPs in spotting the signs of cancer quickly and confidently in order to refer patients at the right time.

We work collaboratively with GPs to identify any learning needs and work together to shape and deliver an education programme which provides the highest quality cancer education and innovative training.

The Series has met with great success, with over 600 GPs attending our live events and thousands more accessing our online learning resources. Throughout 2017 we will continue to host free interactive seminars covering aspects of cancer diagnosis, treatment and care relevant to you as a GP. Webcasts are made available soon after each event so that doctors who are unable to attend can benefit from the presentations as well.

Each event takes a symptom-led approach and focuses on several different tumour types. Events are delivered by a multidisciplinary team of experts through interactive case studies, panel discussions and clinical lectures. Attendees also have the opportunity to network with other GPs and meet many of our consultants.

Each day's learning equates to five CPD credits. Certificates are provided to GPs who attend a live event.
