Early Diagnosis and Detection Centre Launch

The Early Diagnosis and Detection Centre; a joint collaboration between The Royal Marsden and the ICR, was successfully launched via a virtual event on 10 September 2021.

Over 120 delegates from the UK and overseas attended the webinar to hear about initiatives, examples of research from experts in this field, and the future aspirations of the centre. The event was co-lead by Professor Ros Eeles, Dr Richard Lee and Professor Stan Kaye.

Dame Cally Palmer CEO of The Royal Marsden and Professor Kristian Helin CEO of The Institute of Cancer Research each gave an opening address highlighting the urgent need for the Early Diagnosis and Detection Centre, the collaboration between the two organisations. They also talked about upcoming technologies and the importance of early diagnosis to NHS England. A further ten speakers gave presentations around risk stratified research, recurrence of early diagnosis, AI, and detection in a global context, promoting questions and discussion from colleagues, clinicians, and patient representatives in the audience.
