Patient and carer research review panel

As part of our ongoing commitment to involve patients and carers in everything that we do, we are running a 12-month pilot of a patient and carer research review panel.
Each month, the panel will review a range of research documents, including protocols, proposals and patient information. Any suggestions about improving the way we do things will be passed to the researchers who will then feed back about how they intend to incorporate these suggestions into our daily routine.
We are currently looking for people to join the panel. Apply now
What the panel will do
During the pilot stage, patients and carers on the panel will be involved in helping to review research protocols and study procedures, and collaborating on patient information sheets.
Over time, this level of involvement may extend to managing, undertaking and disseminating research, and even helping the hospital plan, design and commission research.
This is very exciting prospect for The Royal Marsden as it means that we will be working more closely with those affected by cancer and, in doing so, gaining insights that will allow our research to be more inclusive and considerate of patients and carers’ perspectives.
If you don’t want to join the panel but you would like to make a suggestion about research at The Royal Marsden, please fill in our research ideas form.
