Overseas students and visitors
Healthcare professionals from overseas are advised to contact the relevant organisation in the UK regarding professional registration. Overseas nurses should contact the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
Overseas students
The Royal Marsden School of Cancer Nursing and Rehabilitation welcomes international students. However, there are a number of issues that you will need to consider.
It is important to note that not all of our programmes will be appropriate to overseas visitors; we would strongly advise you to discuss your learning needs with us before making an application.
You will need to think about funding of course fees, travel and living costs. Before we process any application, we will need to know that you have the funding available for your visit.
If you intend to work, you will need to obtain registration in the UK with the Nursing and Midwifery Council for nurses or the Health Professions Council for allied health professionals.
For further details on studying with us, please contact the School.
Visitor programme
The Royal Marsden receives numerous requests for clinical and educational visits.
While we welcome appropriate applications from visitors, there are a limited number of such opportunities available. This is to ensure that clinical areas are not overwhelmed with visitors and that the quality of each individual visit is maintained. To support such visits we have introduced an application process.
Visits which are made to the Trust are not opportunities for training and skill development in the patient areas. Visitors may not participate in direct or indirect patient care or management.
Applications for a visit
Strict application guidelines are followed and the following information must be submitted before any visits can be arranged:
- a letter outlining the purpose of the visit
- curriculum vitae outlining educational background and professional experience
- a list of clear and comprehensive learning objectives
- confirmation that a funding source is available.
Applications should be received at least six months before the date of the potential visit. Please send them to Anna Orlowska on anna.orlowska@rmh.nhs.uk or +44 (0)20 7808 2301.
Language capability
All visitors must be fluent in English.
Fees
Each visitor's programme is designed to reflect his or her learning objectives. All visits are therefore individually planned and fees will be charged accordingly. These should be paid prior to the arrival of the visitor.
