Course summary

The Manual for Cancer Standards – Acute Oncology Measures emphasis the need for nurses in Emergency Departments to have the knowledge to care for cancer patients who present in the department with acute problems related to their cancer. This learning package has been developed to help Emergency Department staff gain this knowledge.

    • Neutropenic Sepsis
    • Nausea and Vomiting
    • Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression
    • Diarrhoea
    • Pericardial Effusion
    • Superior Vena Cava Obstuction
    • Brain Metastases
    • Hypercalcaemia
  • Group work on items less likely to present at an Emergency Department
  • Advice on creating individual organisational plans for delivery of the educational package

Each delegate will receive a trainer manual and CD-ROM, which contains all the slides that are required to aid training and access to the competency assessment tool.

Regional Training Days

Regional train the trainer days can be arranged at the request of a local or regional body/organisation. The cost of a training day for a group of up to 20 delegates is £2,250 (there may be additional charges for the trainer’s travel and accommodation). Additional delegates will incur an extra cost of £150 per person. This will include one day of training, a trainer manual and CD-ROM of the complete presentation for each delegate and access to the competency assessment tool.
