GP Education Series

As a GP you play a vital part in your patients’ cancer care pathway. So you need to know what symptoms to look out for and when to refer your patient for tests. If your patient does have cancer, you need to make sure that they get the best possible treatment and care.
Professional development at The Royal Marsden
As one of the world’s leading cancer centres, The Royal Marsden has been at the forefront of cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education for the past 160 years.
In 2009, we launched the GP Education Series, a programme of events and online learning opportunities which allow us to contribute to your professional development by sharing some of our expertise and knowledge. The Series has met with great success, with over 300 GPs attending our live events and thousands more accessing our online learning resources.
Throughout 2011 and 2012, we will continue to host quarterly one-day seminars covering aspects of cancer diagnosis, treatment and research relevant to you as a GP. Webcasts of the proceedings are made available soon after each GP Education Day so that doctors who are unable to attend can benefit from the presentations as well.
Each day focuses on several different tumour types and is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of experts through case studies, panel discussions and clinical lectures. Attendees also have the opportunity to network and meet many of our consultants and other GPs.
Each day’s learning equates to 5 CPD credits. Certificates are provided to GPs who attend a live event or who view a webcast as an online learning module.
