- Rapid diagnostic services for breast and prostate cancer
The Stanley Cohen Rapid Diagnostic and Assessment Centre (RDAC) is one of the most advanced centres of its kind in the UK. It is designed specifically for patients with suspected cancer to ensure they receive the very best diagnostic tests and care without delay.
We run one-stop, new patient assessment clinics where the majority of patients have their required tests performed and their results available on the same day. All patients are seen within two weeks of referral.
We currently provide a specialist service to patients suspected of having breast cancer or prostate cancer. A whole range of diagnostic techniques are performed, including diagnostic imaging (mammography and ultrasound), tissue sampling and biopsies. All clinics are run by dedicated staff including consultant surgeons and oncologists, radiologists, radiographers, nurses and a histopathologist. They are supported by technical and secretarial staff.
Nursing at the RDAC
Our multidisciplinary team works closely with the clinical nurse specialists to provide quality information and support. Nurses in the RDAC also have the opportunity to work in the ultrasound suite with our sonographers and radiologists.
