Biography

Mr Dirk Strauss is a Consultant Surgical Oncologist and General Surgeon in the Sarcoma Unit and Skin Unit at The Royal Marsden.

He qualified as General Surgeon in South Africa. In 2006–07 he undertook a two-year fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London, in upper gastrointestinal surgery with a special emphasis on surgery for gastrointestinal malignancies and complex oesophageal reconstructions. Mr Dirk Strauss completed the International Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at The Royal Marsden in 2008.

Before his full-time consultant appointment, he carried out a combined Research and Clinical Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at The Royal Marsden, culminating in several peer-reviewed publications and presentations in the field of oncology, sarcoma and melanoma. He has a special interest in surgery for retroperitoneal and intra-abdominal sarcomas.
