Biography

Dr Robin Wilson is a specialist breast radiologist. He qualified from the University of Dundee and undertook his radiology training in Nottingham. He was the Clinical Director of Breast Services, Director of Breast Screening and Director of the Nottingham Breast Institute at Nottingham City Hospital for 13 years before moving to London in 2007.

Dr Wilson specialises in breast screening and symptomatic breast assessment, and has a special interest in image-guided breast biopsy and excision. He is a strong advocate of protocol-led multidisciplinary breast care.

Dr Wilson is the Chairman of the NHS Breast Screening Radiology coordinating committee and a member of the Department of Health Breast Screening Advisory Committee. He has published widely on breast radiology and is the editor of the current NHS national guidelines for breast screening radiology and breast screening assessment. His current research interests include new techniques for breast biopsy, breast cancer follow-up and digital mammography techniques.

He is the President of the European Society of Breast Specialists (EUSOMA) and is co-editor of the EUSOMA guidelines on the role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in breast assessment. He is a member of the faculty and past president of the International Breast Ultrasound School (IBUS). He lectures and participates in teaching courses worldwide on breast radiology and multidisciplinary breast care.
