Biography
Dr Michelle Scurr BMed FRACP is a Consultant Medical Oncologist in the Sarcoma Unit and the Drug Development Unit at The Royal Marsden.
She attained her Medical Degree from the University of Newcastle in Australia and did Internal Medicine and subsequently medical oncology training at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney.
In 2000 Dr Scurr undertook a clinical fellowship in sarcoma and drug development at The Royal Marsden where she spent two years in the laboratories at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) researching transcription factors in soft-tissue sarcomas, for which she won a Young Investigator Award from the Connective Tissue Oncology Society.
Dr Michelle Scurr has been a Consultant in both clinical units since November 2006. She has a very active interest in clinical trials, and has principal investigator roles, as well as sub-investigator roles.
Dr Scurr has a strong interest in medical education and is the pharmacology module leader for the Master of Science (Oncology) at The ICR. She is on the board of the New Drugs Advisory Board for the EORTC, and is a member of the Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma Group of the EORTC and the ICR coordinator in a multinational Network of Excellence specifically dealing with connective tissue tumours.
