Biography

Dr Andrew McLeod is a Consultant Anaesthetist, having been accredited in 2002. He was appointed to The Royal Marsden in 2007 and was formerly Consultant Anaesthetist at Portsmouth Hospitals from 2002–6.

His main clinical interests are:

  • pre-operative assessment and cardiopulmonary exercise testing
  • anaesthesia for major surgery, with a current focus on complex gynaecological and urological surgery
  • airway management.

Dr McLeod gained a master’s degree in medical ethics and law in 2007. He is an undergraduate tutor and examiner at University College London Hospitals and Co-Chair of the Consent Steering Group at The Royal Marsden. He also lectures at regional and national meetings.

He is College Tutor for The Royal Marsden’s Anaesthetic Department and an educational supervisor to anaesthetic trainees. He is also an instructor in advanced paediatric life support and a workshop instructor / programme coordinator for Difficult Airway Society.

He is widely published on subjects such as anaesthesia and gynaecological oncology surgery, anaesthesia and oncology, and ethics and law in anaesthesia.
