Biography

Dr Donna Lancaster is a Consultant Paediatric Oncologist specialising in the treatment of children and adolescents with leukaemia and lymphoma.

Dr Lancaster qualified from the University of Sheffield in 1989, and completed general paediatric training at Birmingham Childrens Hospital and Sheffield Childrens Hospital, followed by specialised paediatric oncology training at Barts and the London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. She did a clinical research fellowship at Barts and the London Hospital funded by the Imperial Cancer Research Fund to investigate thiopurine metabolism and pharmacokinetics in children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. She was awarded an MD in 2000 at the University of London. Following completion of training she undertook a clinical fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

Her research interests are new agents for childhood leukaemia, and Dr Lancaster is the Principle Investigator for a number of Phase I/II studies in childhood leukaemia. She also has an interest in adolescent oncology and chairs one of the subgroups of TYAC, a national group for professionals treating teenagers and young people with cancer.
