Biography

Dr Anna Kirby is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in the treatment of patients with breast cancer.

Dr Kirby read medicine and psychology at Cambridge University, and was awarded a first-class BA(Hons) in 1995. She subsequently qualified from Cambridge University Medical School in 1997 and completed her general medical training at St George’s Hospital, London. Her specialist oncology training was completed at The Royal Marsden and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals.

She undertook research into breast radiotherapy as part of an MD programme at The Royal Marsden and The Institute of Cancer Research between 2007 and 2009, and was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at The Royal Marsden, Kingston and St George’s Hospitals.

Her publications have addressed methods of improving the accuracy of breast radiotherapy delivery. Her current research interests include the development of heart-sparing breast radiotherapy techniques (including prone breast radiotherapy).
