Biography

Professor Cyril Fisher is an internationally renowned surgical pathologist who specialises in the diagnosis of soft-tissue tumours, including the application and evaluation of the most advanced diagnostic techniques.

Professor Fisher graduated in medicine from Oxford University and trained in pathology at University College Hospital Medical School, London. He has held senior academic appointments in the USA and the UK, and is currently Professor of Tumour Pathology at The Institute of Cancer Research and Consultant Histopathologist at The Royal Marsden.

He has been President of the International Society of Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology, has given more than 175 invited lectures in 22 countries, and is an editor of Sarcoma and a member of several other editorial boards. He has authored or co-authored more than 400 scientific publications.

Professor Fisher deals with around 2,000 specimens of soft-tissue tumours and related conditions a year, and receives cases for second opinion from pathologists throughout the UK and worldwide.
