Biography

Dr Anna-Karenia Anderson was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and qualified from Otago University in 1994. She worked there for two years before settling in the United Kingdom.

She received her postgraduate paediatric training in and around London at places including Great Ormond Street, St Mary's, St George's, Royal London and The Royal Marsden. At a time where formal paediatric palliative care training was not recognised as a subspeciality, she worked and trained with the Symptom care team at Great Ormond Street, at a children's hospice in London and in a variety of paediatric subspecialities to enhance her paediatric palliative care expertise and skills.

Dr Anderson has been in her current post for two years which is a joint position between The Royal Marsden and CHASE Children's Hospice, Surrey. The post was initially funded by CLIC Sargant and was the first of its kind. Her work entails providing symptom and palliative care to children and young people with cancer or those referred to CHASE Hospice.
