Haemato-oncology Unit
The Haemato-oncology Unit offers state-of-the-art diagnoses and treatment of all cancers of the blood and lymphatic system. These include myeloma, lymphomas, Hodgkin’s disease, chronic lymphatic leukaemia, and acute and chronic leukaemias.
Services are provided through disease-specific clinics and a specialised inpatient unit for the delivery of more intensive chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation.
Inpatients and outpatients
The 32-bed inpatient unit has 20 single rooms with filtered-air protected environments for patients that require intensive chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation. There is also a newly refurbished outpatient area.
Diagnosis, treatment, care and research
One of the Unit’s major strengths is its comprehensive demographic and clinical database which is used in evaluating treatment options and prognostic factors.
The Unit has a high profile with all major relevant international bodies, and collaborates in national and international trials. Its philosophy is the comprehensive delivery of state-of-the-art treatment and care in an environment which facilitates ongoing research and allows the very latest developments to be integrated into the routine care of patients.

Patients benefit from dedicated specialist nursing staff and a multi-disciplinary team which includes haematologists, clinical oncologists, microbiologists, surgeons and pathologists.
